Investment Advisory Service OverviewAs specialists for the charity sector, we have developed CB Financial Limited Investment Services to meet the specific investment needs that charities face. We are qualified Independent Financial Advisers and act on behalf of the Trustees and the Executive of Charities. We provide an interface between the investment management groups and the Trustees. Not all Trustees are investment management experts, and they need help in achieving the correct financial aims for their charity’s needs. In conjunction with Charity Business, CB Financial’s aims are based on providing an effective ‘out sourced service’. We work closely with Trustees providing guidance through the maze of different investment management offerings, and help them find the right solution from the whole investment market. Our service is independent. We only work on a fee basis with the charity concerned – this enables us to negotiate highly competitive terms from the fund management groups for the charities involved. Our goal is to find the best investment solution for the Trustees to implement for their given charity. Our service is designed to help Trustees meet their duty of care to their given charity in the highly technical area of investment. Many charities have surplus funds not needed to fund their immediate charitable activities, and therefore it follows that the Trustees will want to invest some of the surplus in order to generate extra income to fund future activities. We help charities develop their investment ideas. This starts with the formation of the Reserves Policy, then an Investment Policy and finally, implementation of the investment – i.e., we aim to find the right investment management group to manage the charity’s money. We consider groups with a wide range of offering. Trustees have many investment alternatives to consider – but suitability is key. The Trustees need to consider ‘the whole range of investment options’ open to them. How far they will go in their considerations will depend on the amount available to invest – CB Financial has aimed its service at charities with typically between £1 million and £50 million to invest (the average sized fund is about £16 million). The Basic Principles of Investment (as laid out in The Trustee Act 2000) for Trustees also directs them to consider diversification. This helps reduce risk of losses and correctly provide superior returns in the long term. We help Trustees consider this important area of investment. Our service is ‘modular’. Charities can go through the whole process with us, or key in at any stage that is most appropriate to them. We can offer Comprehensive Investment Reviews covering existing investment strategy and policies. Specifically we look at:
We also offer Annual Reviews keeping your portfolio working hard for your organisation. This yearly review weeds out poor performers and optimises the strengths of the markets as well as monitoring your fund managers and assessing their value for money.
