Virtual Finance Director

Our Virtual Finance Director (VFD) service aims to support charities which require the expertise and experience of a fully qualified finance director but at a fraction of the cost.

This service means that charities can use their VFD on an ad-hoc basis as and when required, for example to help with annual budgeting, reforecasting or year-end planning or they may come in every month to work with senior management and the board providing high-level & strategic financial reporting.

Examples of the activities that VFD’s can support include:

1. Working with Senior Management on strategic financial issues and solutions;
2. Overseeing the finance function and managing the finance function within the charity;
3. Provision of financial forecasts and help with budgetary and planning processes;
4. Attendance at trustee and management meetings (& AGM), as requested, to provide an overview of the financial performance;
5. Liaison with bankers regarding general banking arrangements and facilities, negotiating where required;
6. Recommending management improvements to internal controls;
7. Routine liaison with external auditors on audit plans, timing of annual accounts and the presentation of the annual accounts at the AGM if required; and
8. Providing a written commentary to the management accounts and providing project accounting information.
